I am the owner whom had fire claim with the insurance. We used their preferred vendors for the entire process. The restoration of our home went 5 months over our relocation budget, was not to specifications we requested, unfinished in some areas and have had to be repaired in several places. The contractor 's made a offer but said since they passed inspection they weren't responsible. We have had to make an additional claim within a year of their inspected construction for a pipe burst in the kitchen of the property because of inadequate insulation. How can we recover the necessary funds to repair and finish the original and requested scope of work?...Read More

Good morning, I'm hoping to get some advice on the next steps to take in trying to get paid for a job after filing a Stop Payment Notice. Our customer (Moreno Valley Construction) was contracted to do a job for our mutual customer (City of Merced). Our contact at the City of Merced spoke with one of our owners and let him know that the City wouldn't be paying Moreno Valley for the job (that is currently uncompleted) until Moreno Valley Construction paid their subs for the job. I'm just trying to figure out if we should file a claim against Moreno Valley's payment bond or if there is another step to go about getting paid. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Read More

I sub-contractr for Imperial valley Sewer Water upgrade. GC continuously delays to pay, PP1 and now PP2 explanation, they did not receive money for our HVAC PP2 from the city. We submitted the PP2 on Jan1st 2021 and is now over due and will most likely continue that way until it gets paid which will like not happen until March 2021...Do I have rights to late fees and interest? We have billed over $75,000.00 that most like will be delayed about 50% is now in delay by GC, has been an issue from the start of this project, their claim is they will not pay until it is all installed, meaning i will carry the burden of of over $100,000 in cost for equipment and labor.
There was no reply to our PP2 request for 30 days after the request as submitted, reason for delays by GC unconditional release forms of PP1 missing forms. Ridiculous, there are financial requirement to carry the initial cost and operating cost for these multimillion contract types, i paid my suppliers and my labor and I want that money back into my checking account. I am a certified DGS Small contractor....Read More
Filed a claim against my contractor for poor workmanship issues. We have been dealing with the same issues since October when they installed showers. They would come out and fix issues only for them to keep happening over and over again. The caulking has been redone over 6 times since October. The handles and faucets will not stay attached keeps peeling from caulking. Rain Shower unit fell off into my husband in the shower. We have already pd them. We continue to have recurring issues as well as new ones. Contacted cslb board in December and they tried reaching out to them with no success. So now in February I filed a claim against the bond now they are trying hard to come out and fix issues with a new plumber. Do I have to continue to allow them to try and fix ??? When is enough enough!!! I don’t want to continue to do business with them I just want money to redo and hire someone else. ...Read More
I'm a subcontractor working on a public works project and we have been referred to a surety bond company to obtain a bond for this job.
