I had a new motor Putin my truck by a performance shop. He did it and gave the truck back. He charged 7,500.00 I paid 3,200.00 of it so far. I drove the truck 2 days and the motor started taking coolant and the battery quit charging. I called him. He advised me to bring it back. We have an agreement that I pay weekly payments. I have been paying them. He refuses to fix the problem he caused to the new motor and has now issues a mechanic lien on my truck. Is that legal? Especially since the truck is not fixed?...Read More

I was fired on the spot from an residential project. Interior remodel. Did not make the deadline; scope creep, covid, delays in materials, should have estimated for a longer completion date, etc. The customer called me to meet at the site, i was given one day to vacate. I was paid roughly 50% of the overall bill. The customer is demanding ~$4400 refund via legal assistance. They have not accounted for $1200 water heater that i fronted for the customer. They were also provided discounts (10-14%) for materials for me providing labor. In addition, they originally left the paint type to my discretion. When we arrived at the painting milestone, they stepped in with a paint that cost 75-80% more than the standard paint (~$400) we originally agreed on. Please review and reply. Regards, Jay Dunn. We are a roofing company and we have a job in Philadelphia, PA for which we have not been fully paid. We tried reaching out to the homeowners who hired us but we were not successful with obtaining the balance of the invoice. We have sent a notice to them on 5/10/21 stating that a lien will be filed if the payment is not received. The last invoice we have is dated 11/20/20 which is over 6 month from the current date. Are we still able to place a lien or do we not have this avenue to collect due to the 6 month restriction?...Read More

My father and I agreed to flip a house. I bought the house and he would be responsible for the rehab. Our verbal agreement stated that we would split the proceeds based on our monetary investment by percentage. Right before I was to pay him, I was served with a mechanics lien. He made up a bunch of fake invoices to prove his point. How can a partner use a mechanics lien without a written agreement?...Read More
