I did a job and finished it the customer refused to pay me and now since I won't release the lien he is treating to take to court what should I do
New YorkOur form is owed funds by a GC. Latest we can bring a lien would be mid Feb 2020. They have just notified us that we should receive payment in March or April.
New YorkI am a subcontractor who did remodeling work on a house but the GC did not make the last payment for the job. The owner already paid him but he didn't pay us. We were already able to file a lien but the payment is still not made. The next step would be to start a foreclosure process and how much would it cost to do so? You can recommend a lawyer to continue the case who preferably speaks Spanish.

New YorkWe are a subcontractor that filed a NY Mechanics Lien in February 2022. The customer does not intend to pay us for work performed so we would like to enforce or foreclose on the lien now but there is conflicting information online on when we can do so. Must we first extend the lien before it expires before we can enforce the lien or can we do it now?

New YorkWe are a subcontractor for a residential owner occupied in NYC. This job is not completed yet but the majority of work was completed last September. Our October 2021 Application for Payment was paid in February 2022. - 4 months. Then we resumed work and have submitted 2 more Application for Payments to bill out the job completely. We are currently negotiating some change orders. The balance they owe is $37,894.58, including retainage. We do not want to go back onsite until they pay. The last day onsite was 4/25/22. We are not sure if we should file a preliminary notice or mechanics lien or what to do. Thank you!

New YorkI'm a subcontractor and submitted a payment request 2 months ago and still no payment. My portion of the work is mostly complete. My emails go unanswered but instead I get texts from the GC that my check is coming 'next week'. I feel like they are trying to run out the clock to avoid paying me. I could use some guidance.

New YorkMy contractor is threatening to lien over a bill that is less than 5 days old. 1- Our contract stipulates that if there are differences we must go to arbitration. He is bypassing that. 2- I am withholding funds because I paid in full for a specific part of the work that has not been completed. I have informed the contractor that I will pay my bill in full when he completes the unfinished work that has already been paid for. He refuses.
