IowaHello, I'm currently an employee for a Plumbing and HVAC company who was subcontracted on a job where Davis Bacon wages were brought up and I was thumbing through the spec book and then noticed that neither me nor my apprentice have been compensated for this or even if we are eligible as I have never heard of this before. I was wondering if you could shed some light on the topic before I potentially kick the hornets nest with my employer.
IowaI work for a contractor that remodels homes. I am paid as a subcontractor not as a direct employee of his company. So I am paid weekly for hours worked on the job, the contractor does not furnish me with pay stubs nor does he take any payroll taxes from my checks. I am owed back pay for work I have done on one particular property in Scott County and I want to know if I have the right to file a mechanics lien on that property for the back pay due to me
IowaI was hired to work on a condo for a client. Now we are parting ways - he told me he was hiring someone else. He is not paying the invoice dated May 3rd, 2022 for work done. I have given him plenty of opportunity to pay and tried to open communication but all my attempts have been ignored. I have sent out an intent to file a lien on July 4th and he responded that he would pay $3,500 - ($6,245 is owed). Do I proceed to lien? Have I passed my time deadline? At this point, I am not sure what I can or should do and any advise is appreciated. Thank you.

IowaContractor agreed to reallocate work he couldn't, wouldn't finish in a timely manner. We selected reallocated work TOGETHER. Then this Grifter invoiced me. His mechanic's lien against me has expired and his bully tactics continue. I'm not timid and want to go after him using consumer advocacy groups, including contractor association involvement. But as you probably have already guessed, they would rather remain disingenuously loyal to this crooked contractor than do the right thing. So what do I do? Call in the "LEVERAGE" team? Or contact equally reprehensible ABA in Iowa City? This Trump society does not hold to any moral or ethical standards. What do I do now?

IowaI know Iowa requires a preliminary notice of lien rights be provided to the customer before work begins or soon after.
That being said, we do not have an "official form" for this; however, the fine print on our contract has a line that says the following:
"Pre-Lien Notice: company hereby provides notification that any person or company supplying labor or material for this improvement to your property may file a lien against your property if that person or company is not paid for their contributions. Upon default in payment, a lien will be placed on the property and charges will be added from the date of substantial completion at the maximum rate allowed by law."
Is this sufficient, or is there an actual official form that's needed in Iowa?

IowaI agreed to cut down 4 trees by my self,. The first one I cut down in a day, at the end of May the 28th I was only paid 100 dollars, but the whole job wasn't finish, so I didn't worry about the rest, yet cause candy the lady who's house it was, didn't have the funds yet, I said ok,. 3 to 4 weeks went by and candy. Said her pool showed up today and she wanted the rest of the trees cut down,. I said ok, I cut all three down in 1 day June 26th 2021, and cleaned up by June 27th 2021. Now before this. I was Un aware that a deal between Jake and candy that lived next door, we were neighbors, that if I cut down the trees she would give him this Indian motor cycle, and he would pay me ,. The original deal was for 300 per tree,. But since I had to wait one of them would give me 500 per tree for waiting for payday. I have some pictures, of were I cut the trees down at and were I put the lumber, but no before and after pictures,

IowaMy girlfriend's mom purchased a house that my girlfriend then rented. Her mom wanted some framing around water heater, etc done in basement and also wanted a deck built. Many text messages to prove that she asked for these things but no contract. Her mom was also there in person for some of the deck construction. Payment was never discussed. Her mother purchased most deck materials but not all. Now her mom suddenly wants to sell the house and has already had realtor pictures taken. Will not respond to anything regarding payment for any materials or labor. I did all the work myself. Also not sure if a permit was ever actually filed. Do I have any lein rights?
IowaWe are a GC that did a job for Marshalltown Court house in IA. We finished the job 8/9/21. Our project director said there is no payment bond which seems fishy. The court house is owned and operated by the Court House. They still owe us $ 1.1 M. Can I file a lien , or is there a payment bond, if so how can I find out ?
