Good afternoon My business partner who is also a wounded Veteran like me funded this project and house. We're known across the state for hiring vets and working for larger companies like Pulte etc. My business partner informed me yesterday that after 2 weeks he would have our company lawyer file a mechanics lien to hold all projects for Iqon/ Integra until the $2500 is paid to us which we have had done and is now been a month. I have no ill will towards anyone and since this is business, payment on time is very important. Especially to two veterans that are paying out of pocket to run this company from time served. I let Mike know yesterday that today would be that last day to pay our invoice otherwise further communication would be between my business partner if not the company lawyer. I hate that it's come to this. It also says on our site that failure to pay for our service within 24 hours of a specific time would result in potential removal of the insulation since it's still ours and legal action to be taken and the contract signed makes automatically goes into affect. Since I've worked with our client before in that past, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But ignoring a good company like us especially veteran owned and waiting to pay if at all is not good business. Regardless, thank you for the chance to work with you. I just wish it was under better circumstances. I'll stay respectful through the whole process and have been since starting this project. Please let me know your thoughts on all of this or how we can correct this situation. Joseph Toney Ceo Militarygradeinsulation@gmail.com https://www.militarygradeinsulation.com...Read More

I am a surety broker and there is a chance one of our client's is going to have a Mechanic's Lien filed by a sub due to negligence of one of their subs that started a fire on a jobsite. Our client would be looking to bond off the Mechanic's lien and I was wondering if they need a Surety Bond for this and, if so, is there a particular format to follow. I have never a Lien situation in Indiana before, so this is new to me. Please advise and Thank you very much....Read More

I quoted some paint jobs for a client, and they paid the deposit for the two jobs. The first paint job took longer than expected and at the end of the he job, the client asked us to stop working. This particular project took 2 to 3 coats of paint to get a good coverage. Not sure how I should charge. The client accepted my bid but I think those terms have been compromised since we were asked to stop? So instead of the original price we agreed on, should we now charge the actual costs for that job or just the original invoice?...Read More

I am an LLC general contractor that supplied labor and some materials through a remodel process and my client has terminated me for cause of endangering a timely completion of the project as I did not state one in my contract nor have I provided one- it’s nearly been three months come 14 July 2022 and I also don’t have a signed contract from the customer. What are my options for collecting payment owed before completion of the project? I told the customer what amount is owed immediately and for materials and the customer’s response was willingness to pay for the materials but not for the asking labor amount (for 70 percent of the contract price) that was last completed on 4 July 2022....Read More

I had a contract to mow three cemeteries. The contract was through the property management company for those cemeteries. The property management company filled CH 11 bankruptcy. I have $52,000 wrapped up in that but they were then obligated to continue paying for services rendered. I continued to work but no pay. I filled mechanic's liens on the three properties for $45,000 but have yet to see anything happen. What are my options?...Read More

I helped a buddy roof this ladies house there was no written contract but she contacted us to do the roof. It was a nightmare and the amount of repair was alot. So naturally the price increased almost double.we explained all of this to her b4 proceeding with the work. She agreed and we finished the roof . Now she is trying to only pay 10% of said bill. We've offered to pay for roof inspection by an outside source and nothing. The work is done to code and in my opinion. Was a great job done and she even said it looked great. What can I do?...Read More
