This is an older job that the customer still hasn't paid us. We are the subcontractor. We just started the lien process and issued the notice to lien.
What additional steps can we take to get paid?

IllinoisI am a subcontractor and I am trying to get paid for a residential job that was done in 2019. The owner was my fathers friend but he passed in 2020. My brother and I now run the concrete company and because my father is no longer here, the home owner believes she has the right to avoid payment. Due to their friendship, there was no formal invoice sent to the owner initially, just word of mouth. Like previously mentioned, since my father passed, she no longer wants to pay. We sent her an invoice for the job back in December and again in February through email and also had it sent via mail. Tried messaging and calling as well but she has blocked us and now my brother and I need guidance. Is there anything we can do?
IllinoisI am a general contractor working in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. We do restoration work and in most cases invoice for emergency services when they are complete. Occasionally the lien deadline on emergency work approaches while the rebuild work is in progress. Does the lien deadline extend if we are still onsite performing work?

IllinoisI'm a general contractor. In the midst of the job, the owners quit paying me, so I had to stop working. They promised to pay me on the next pay out from their hard money Lender ( this was a fix and flip ), but continued to give me excuses and then finally said they were not going to pay me. I intern came to levelset and they put the lien on the property for me. Now the owners of the property are trying to sell the property and I'm worried that they will be able to sell it without compensating me for what they told me. What should I do.
IllinoisSo I understand this correctly. If I file a mechanics lien in all reality. It defeats the purpose of filing the mechanic's lien. To collect my money, I need to spend an exorbitant amount of money on attorney fees which I will never recover and sue the homeowner. So It's like walking in a casino and playing craps. It's a gamble. Because the only one who wins here is the casino and, in this case, the lawyer.

IllinoisI hired a general contractor to remodel my kitchen. The cabinets were ordered and delivered to his shop. Countertops were ordered by the GC and delivered directly to my home. Project is done. He subbed out electrical, painting, and floor. I asked him for waivers and he said I don’t need them as cabinets were delivered to him and not attached to my address. Shouldn’t I have waivers on the countertops, and electrical, painting and floor to prove they were paid. I did get a fully paid receipt from the GC on the amount of the contract signed with him.
IllinoisWe are in contact directly with a school district in MN. I do know that MN requires preliminary notice within 10 days when direct with the owner, however, if the owner is a school district. Would we send notice? Mechanics lien is not applicable with a public institution. Please advise.
IllinoisI have a customer who requested a partial waiver and a final waiver on the same job and I was confused why they did that and if since we did both if the amounts would then be added together? I was out of the office and someone else did this without proper knowledge.
IllinoisI am a homeowner and got a paint job done for the house. A contract was agreed to and signed for providing the labor and materials in lieu of specified Down payment and Final payment. Down payment was made and work started on schedule - with a 2-1/2 target. Half-way through the project, the contractor had family issues and caused delays in paying the subcontractor. Our project was suffering , so after some chasing, a Change Order was put on the original contract, for us to pay the remaining Final payment directly to the subcontractor. The Contractor and Sub contractor both signed the change Order. Work restarted after a 3 week delay, but completed in another 2 weeks. Upon completion of the project, payment to subcontractor was made in the agreed amount (thereby settling the full amount noted in the original contract and change order). But soon after, the Contractor came to us with a revised Invoice, saying the cost of paint turned out to be higher than originally estimated, and hence we would need to pay an additional amount to the Contractor, else he would not provide the final invoice of completion and is threatening a lien on house. Can he do this ? What is the validity of a contract then ? Should we even try to negotiate a compromise when the full contracted amount has already been paid ?
