A client of yours filed a mechanics lien for work he did at our residence in March, 2021, presented us a bill, and was paid in full on the date he presented the bill. He is not a California licensed contractor, nor did he work under a licensed contractor. the amount of the bill presented was $775. He also had been working from 10/16/20-9/14/21 for his girlfriend at our commercial building she was under contract to purchase on or before 11/5/21. His labor was unsolicited by us. No bill was presented, nor any demand was made until 11/9/21 when his girlfriend 's lease purchase expired and she did not execute the purchase of the building. Her earnest money was non-refundable. On 11/9/20 your client submitted a written bill (the first written invoice ever) to us for all of his labor and materials he had done under the direction of his girlfriend. In addition, he submitted a retroactive bill for a new hourly wage for the work he had done at our home and had been paid for in March. Today your company filed a Mechanic's lien on our property for a new amount due for work which is stated at "finished" on 11/5/21. We would appreciate a call from a representative of your company regarding this fraudulent lien. Thank you so much for your consideration. Sincerely, Connie Higgins (530) 258-2547 ...Read More

Our client was a prospective buyer for a property, we were asked to provide concept design for that property so that he could price out the project. We completed our part of the project, and he had it priced. After learning it would be more than he was willing to get into, decided against purchasing the property. He still has open invoices with us, and has not responded to our attempts to collect our fees. We can't lien the property, he doesn't own it. What are our options?...Read More

ServePro completed water remediation per StateFarm guidelines. They took out way too much under the assuption statefarm was paying for the water remediation. Once there was question on converage they pulled their equiptment and left all the demo stuff and tarps and tape and everything and left us with the sewer upcapped. I hadn't heard anything from them however i called and asked what my bill was since state farm isnt paying. they have fees on there that were not completed that i will not pay for. They told me they were working on it and would get back to me. Then they sent through level set a bill to pay in 10 days or i would get a tiny lien placed on my house. Can i put a lien against them for what they are falsely charging me?...Read More

Our company was hired by a construction company to install some landscape lighting for the homeowner. Our contract is with the construction company. We have not received payment and would like to place a lien, however, we are unsure on who to place the lien on. The new homeowner (the home has sold since we last did work there) or the construction company that we were contracted with. If it is the construction company how do we go about placing a lien as we don't have an actual person and we only have a business address. ...Read More

I am a general contractor I filed a lein on one of my customers property that owes me money they never fulfilled the contract or paid me in full on the change order and my contract, we were gone for the holidays I just got back and I missed my court hearing date to defend the lean in court against the homeowner . The lean was released and now I am responsible for the attorney fees as well. The basis for releasing the lean was I did not file it in the timely manner which is the 90 days, This is not true I have all of my paperwork in order which shows the dates it was filed properly I did send a preliminary notice what can I do next how do I refile the lein?...Read More
