I'm a subcontractor working on large park project. I finished my work a few months ago and our customer still has a balance on their account and pushing back to pay for the change order. I cannot find any bonds on this job, so I'm reaching out to see what my options are.
AlabamaI had tools stolen from a job that went wrong. Long story short the company I worked for did a roof for a customer and me as the project manager was asked if I could redo a deck and do some other work for the customer on the side, well the installer that I used to do the work did almost all of it wrong and now the job has probably went to legal with the company (they fired me) but I still need my tools from the job site. How do I go about doing this?
AlabamaNeed to know the proper process. We have a client that owes us money from last year. We went back around the first of March to finish an item. Now we aren't getting a response to our payment request. What is the next course of action? Send a Notice of Intent to Lien?
Alabamacontractor and i disagreed on the amount he was still due after he said he completed all work. he did not complete all of things he was supposed to and i refused to pay him the full amount. i offered him an amount several hundred dollars less but he would not accept that amount and said he would take me to court. i said ok see you in court and ask for my key back. he said because i still owed him money he would not return my key. i told him i would have the locks changed and he was not come on to my property again. will the court award me the amount i paid to have the locks changed?
AlabamaWe are a general contractor that works with Homeowner's that have filed an insurance claim for property damage. Whether we are doing one trade or multiple trades we act as a GC. By that I mean that we assess the insured's property for damages that would necessitate an insurance claim. The Homeowner files the claim, and if approved we do the repairs. We also research building codes, pull permits and apply for the necessary municipal licensing, sub-contract the labor, supervise the job and submit the close-out paperwork to the insurance company. We also submit supplements to the insurance company if we find that they missed work that needs to be done, or we find additional damage after the job is started.
I have read that there is a "three trade rule" that determines O & P. I have also read that that rule was nullified, and that if a GC meets the definition of that term, then we are entitled to O & P . In my research I can't find a definitive answer for Alabama.

AlabamaIm a subcontractor that has been working alone on a privately owned dually sectioned condo that the owners live in one side and rent other. Ive been working for 4 months without a license because state dont require for under 50000 in work. Verbal agreement was a weekly pay of 900 a week . I have done probably 30000 in work and ive only gotten considering 900 a week deal 9450. And im owed around 6600. And today he said UPS was delivering my check well no response and this is third time hes said he would pay me and been a week since he told me to get off the job for no reason but me asking for my money and him shorting my check to 720.00. Can i file a lein please help asap?

AlabamaMy husband and live in a house that the owner verbally agreed to sell to us for $65000 and promised that while we were renting that if we did any upgrades the $65000 price wouldn’t change. Last month it was appraised for $109000 , an now the owner has retracted his verbal agreement and is not holding up his end of the verbal agreement. We have lived here for 12years.
What can we do to retain what we have invested , which is $21,497.92 .

AlabamaWe had mold/water damage in our home. Insurance company sent a restoration crew out to clean up and remove mold. 10 days after they were done we found new growth and regrowth of mold. We then hired new companies to handle our home. The original company is now demanding payment and threatening a lien. They haven’t been here since July 6th. Is the deadline passed for them to file a lien? What are my options? I don’t want to pay them for work they obviously didn’t do
AlabamaI had a general contractor work on finishing out a basement. Things were going decent until a subcontractor showed up to my house asking if I had heard from the general contractor. He informed me that he hasn't been paid for work. He also informed me that he did not have a contract with the general contractor so he was really just trying to get in touch with the general contractor. We are approaching the time schedule for the final 10% retainage being paid. How do I go about protecting myself from subcontractors filing liens on my house in the off chance that he has done the same to someone else?
