wtf dont contractors understand about stay home stay safe?

MaineCoronavirus

why are so many contractors looking for a way to keep working? ive been a house painter for 20 years plus. instead of stupidly trying to keep working, contractors need to get with the program and keep workers safe at home. the greed and total lack of giving a f#%k about workers is shameful and disgusting.

I agree that construction work should be shut down if it can't be safely carried out and if the work isn't genuinely essential or critical. And, as you know, most site work can't really be done with reasonable sanitation and with an eye on social distancing guidelines. At least for now, it seems that a lot of construction will be allowed under Maine's stay home order. But, regardless of what's technically allowed, common sense should prevail and unsafe work conditions should be avoided. If you're seeing construction businesses operating in an unsafe manner or seeing them continuing work even though they shouldn't be, reporting the job site to the Maine Department of Labor or to your local authorities could help make sure unsafe job sites get shut down. To track how different states are handling construction during this coronavirus outbreak, this tracker should be useful: Can I do Construction Work In my State?
