Why are these not prevailing wage jobs?

OhioPrevailing Wages

Are new build schools prevailing wage jobs, or a prison job? Not sure if they went to public bids as I’m just a field worker. But I know the amount of the jobs were valued over 100k dollars

For new construction, Ohio public works projects that exceed $250,000 will require prevailing wages. And, for remodeling, alteration, renovation, etc. - prevailing wages will be required for public works exceeding $75,000. It's important to note, though, that these laws will typically only apply for public improvements which are financed, at least in part, by public funds. This comes from Ohio's prevailing wage site, which could be a lot of help here: Ohio Prevailing Wage Site. So, if the job meets the thresholds described above and is using public funds, that job will very likely be requiring prevailing wages. But, for ultimate clarity, it might be worthwhile to discuss the matter with the customer or project manager. And, if prevailing wages are required but not being paid, it could be helpful to either broach the subject with your employer to see what they have to say about the matter. Or, if things are getting contentious, making a prevailing wage complaint can help to ensure the correct wages are being paid.
