who do i file a lien on?

Texas

I am a Subcontractor, I was hired for a land clearing job. I received half the money up front but didn't receive the rest once the job was done because the client say he was not happy with the work even though all work was done correctly and with in what the contract states. Am I supposed to put a lien on the general contractor or the owner of the land?

The Texas mechanic's lien laws are difficult, and convoluted, to say the least. You really need to retain a construction attorney to review and evaluate your legal situation and to provide advice.

A mechanic's lien is filed against real property, naming the owner and the original contractor (commonly called the general contractor). The lien filing process is detailed in Chapter 53 of the Texas Property Code.

Good luck.
