Where do I get a certified copy of a NOC? Where is it certified?

FloridaNotice of Commencement

Our company (contracting, not ownership) has been requested by an AHJ to hand in a certified NOC. The copy of the NOC we presented is notarized and recorded in the County. How do we get a certified copy, given that we are not the issuers of the document?

A contractor can generally obtain a certified copy of the project's Notice of Commencement by requesting one from the county recorder's office where the Notice of Commencement was filed, regardless of whether the contractor was the one to file it. It's common for a recorder's office to require a small fee to provide a certified copy of a recorded document, though. The easiest and most customary way to obtain a certified copy would likely be to physically go to the county recorders office and request one. That way, any associated fees could be paid right then and there. Of course, in order to obtain the certified copy, you'll likely need to know the recording information (i.e. the book and page number) of the recorded Notice of Commencement.
