When does the clock start to be able to file lien

WisconsinLien DeadlinesMechanics LienRight to Lien

I'm a flooring contractor in WI I did part 1 of th job in Sept hardwood floors n haven't been paid but home owner gave me $2k in dec while we wait for the draw then carpet in the same house beginning Jan n still haven't been paid. So do I have 6 months from Jan to file a lien on the hardwood floors or 6 months from the day I finished the hardwood floors?

The deadline to file a Wisconsin mechanics lien will be 6 months from the last furnishing date. This date refers to the last time when labor or materials were furnished to the project site as a whole. So, if the project continues and substantial work is performed, then the deadline to lien would run from the last date when the claimant performed substantial work (i.e. not minor punch list, corrective, or warranty work) at the property.
