Generally, it's a good idea to collect job information for all projects - regardless of the project type. Having that information in hand is important for securing payment, and most customers should respect or at least understand the need for having that info on file. While it'd hardly be surprising to hear that certain companies decide that payment protection is only necessary on certain project types, I don't know that's a particularly wise approach. Keeping all recovery options open for all jobs makes more sense. And, if a company decides not to utilize the recovery tools available to them, at least that was a decision they were empowered to make on their own terms. Finally, assuming "L&B" might refer to "liens and bonds," keep in mind that mechanics liens are generally available for privately-owned construction projects, and payment bond claims are typically appropriate for publicly-owned projects. More on that here: The Difference Between Public and Private Projects. Additionally, a lien on funds can also help to recover payment on Texas public jobs.
