What type of docs, Copies or only originals.

New YorkConstruction Contract

I am preparing the closeout docs for my project, and till now, all I have are copies of the warranties, guaranties and not the originals, since those are sent to me by email. Should I get the original copies to include in my binder, or copies are sufficient. Thanks Omar

Generally, keeping originals for records won't be an absolute necessity. Copies are usually perfectly sufficient, and the only real benefit to having an original over a copy would be if the other party to the agreement argued that the copy is a fake. And, if the copy was sent from them, the recipient will usually have some record or way to show that the copy was, in fact, sent from the appropriate party - diminishing any argument that the copy has been altered or fabricated.
