what's the time limit to file a mechanics lien in california?

CaliforniaMechanics Lien

I did a job in march 9, 2023 and customer haven't pay me yet. Customer gave me a bad check and since then he haven't answered my phone calls. I believe the time limit in California to file a mechanics lien is 90 days, is it true? thanks

Yes it's 90 days. See Civil Code section 8412 & 8400 et seq.

Yes, you must perfect your lien by filing a lawsuit to foreclose the lien within 90 days of the lien recording date or the lien will expire. If the lien period is still open, you could file another lien after that to start the 90 day period over again. There are also special penalties against people who give you a bounced check. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this.
