You indicate that you are a Subcontractor and filed a Mechanics Lien against the property(ies) on which you worked due to nonpayment by the General.

The next step is to give notice to the Owner(s) of the property(ies). They should be interested in getting the lien removed, so they should be prepared to put pressure on the General to pay your. However, if the Owner chooses not to do so, you must proceed against the General by foreclosing the lien in Court.

I hope this information was helpful. Best of luck.

Your follow up does not actually make sense. One cannot file a Mechanics Lien against an individual or business entity: it must be filed against property. Based on what you wrote, you would have to file a lien against multiple properties. Since there may be a misumderstanding, I recommend that you speak directly with an Attorney before proceeding. Good luck.

Assuming the lien you recorded and filed complies with Illinois law, you need to file a lawsuit to foreclose on the lien.

Settle it, file suit to enforce the lien or for breach of contract, or both or take the loss.
