What is the quickest way to remove an unsubstantiated lien on my home?

Tennessee

I had work done by a contractor who did very shoddy work and did not complete the job. He was paid in full up front with insurance check. He has filed a lien for non payment against me which was done out of spite and is not valid. I am in a desperate financial situation and had to sell my home or lose it. I was never given an "intent to lien notice", no change order form and nothing said about any extra money owed. He sent an email demanding money and when I refused he filed a lien. His workmanship cost me approximately $20,000 on the sale of my home. I need to get this bogus lien off my home before closing on 4/21/23 as I just can't afford to pay him anymore. Any help, information, etc. you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out to the Levelset legal community. If you are in need of specific advice for a current legal situation, you may want to consider reaching out to a licensed attorney in your state directly at their office. This forum is public, so it may not be the right place to discuss a sensitive legal issue. Levelset provides a list of attorneys in each state here: https://www.levelset.com/payment-help/experts/experts-by-state/ . From that directory you may find a law firm in your area to call privately.
