What is the process for filing a Mechanics Lien until completion of monies being collected or not collected?

California

We would like to lien for $32,980 for a project where they haven't paid us. We were last on the job on 11/7/2019, so our lien rights are good until 02/07/2020. We don't want to file a Notice of Intent, we just want to go straight to filing the lien. Our lumber supplier gave me two blank templates to use for a Mechanics Lien and a Notice of Mechanics Lien to the homeowner. Levelset only has the option of filing a Mechanics Lien and I am wondering why they don't provide a Notice of Mechanics Lien? He said the law changed recently regarding Mechanics Liens and we have to make sure to "do it right." What is the process after a ML is filed and still not paid?

The Levelset folks can answer your question about using the Levelset platform to record your mechanics lien.  I am quite confident that Levelset will serve your mechanics lien before it is recorded or concurrently with the recordation.  You must file suit to foreclose upon the mechanics lien within 90 days from the recordation date. --CN
