What is the best action to do after filing a mechanics lien?

CaliforniaMechanics Lien

Hi, I would like to ask what is the best action to take on my situation. I was not able to place a 20-day notice preliminary notice on the project prior starting the work. I placed a 20-day notice when I'm almost finishing the overall scope and when the client is having trouble already on releasing payments to me. After few weeks of filing my 20 day notice, I sent a notice of filing a mechanics lien but still never got payment from the client. I decided to file a Mechanics Lien and still client is not paying. What can be the best action to do on this? Is lien extension necessary?

If you had a direct contract with the owner the "20-Day Preliminary Notice" is not necessary. If you were a subcontractor, then your lien may or may not be valid depending on how much your owed, when it became owed, in relation to when the owner was served with the PN. If you have been ghosted by the owner, then the next step is filing the foreclosure action in Court no later than 90 days after filing the lien. You should consult with a construction law attorney to make sure the foreclosure is proper to file and properly filed.
