When putting in AIA payment applications into our accounting software, we enter the date we are submitting the AIA Draw to the GC and also by default our system makes the due date 30 days from invoice date. Example: GC ABC Construction’s contract with us requires us to submit payment applications by the 20th of each month for work estimated to be completed thru the end of the month. We enter and create an AIA pay request on April 20th, our accounting software has been set up to make the “Due Date” 30 days from the application date, which results in a May 20th due date. My questions is this….Should the due date be the 1st day after the end of the period you covered in the pay application…ie due date of 5-1-2020 instead of 5-20 which we currently use? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!
