What do I enter in "date" field for interest on mechanic lien if I don't wish to charge it?

VirginiaMechanics Lien

If I am contracted with the owner via verbal contract and filing for mechanics lien in VA-- on question 5-- "date from which interest on the above amount is claimed:" question........do I have to enter a date, can I put "N/A" in that field or leave it blank? I do not wish to charge interest. I am the GC and interact only with the homeowner.

First, note that I'm not able to advise you on how to fill out your mechanics lien or otherwise provide you with legal advice. I can provide some information that should be helpful to you, but what's entered on the form is up to you and should reflect your situation. With that being said, if interest is being included in your Virginia mechanics lien claim, then the date from which that interest began accruing should be featured on the lien claim. If no interest is owed and none is being claimed, then it makes sense that there wouldn't be an applicable date from which interest accrued - so one wouldn't appear on the Virginia mechanics lien form.
