What can we do after filing the mechanics lien?

CaliforniaMechanics Lien

We installed two roofs for this company. One back in August of last year and the other in October. We filled the liens back in December and tried reaching out again but still no response. What can we do?

You have 90 days to file a lawsuit to foreclose a proper recorded and noticed lien. Otherwise, you would have to consider whether you have breach of contract rights against whoever hired you.

You only have 90 days to either resolve the lien or file the foreclosure action. You should contact an attorney immediately if the homeowner is non-responsive.

Your lien will expire after 90 days unless you file a lawsuit to foreclose the lien. Depending on how much money is involved, it may or may not make good business sense to file the lawsuit. Sometimes a strong demand letter from an attorney can help which threatens to file a lawsuit can help you get paid. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this.
