What can I do to get paid?

CaliforniaPay Applications

Hi, My boss performed work for a contractor and billed once the work was completed. The work was performed on T & M basis, no paperwork was signed beforehand, and a preliminary notice was not filed. We billed a total of $2,080.00 back in March and have yet to be paid or receive any more responses from the contractor. His CSLB lic is currently suspended for failure to comply with a bond payout. What else can we do to be paid for the work performed?

You can try small claims court.

You can still make a claim against the contractor’s license bond for the money owed, especially if you can show that the owner paid the contractor and he failed to pay you. The bond information is on the CSLB website under the contractor’s name. Or you can file a complaint against the contractor in Small Claims Court yourself for breach of contract. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this.
