What can I do to get my money from contractor

Louisiana

I'm a subcontractor. We did the casework for a contractor in Louisiana (we are in Louisiana also). It was a job paid through FEMA. It was a school. It's been two years and we cannot get the rest of our money of about 12,000. The contractor has been bought out, but I was able to contact them and they have a lawyer who has filed a lien against the owner who hasn't paid them. Do we have any recourse. I missed the lien date. I don't know my rights. I don't know where to turn. I am willing to pay for consultation through a lawyer, but I don't know how much that will cost.

Place the debt for collection with a licensed and bonded commercial collection agency who will collect the debt on a contingency fee bases. If not collected it won't cost you anything. Feel free to email srauch@rauchmilliken.com for a free quote. Best regards, Steve
