What can I do if contractor walks away from job

Signed a contract to have my parents bathroom remodeled. Including creating a walk-in shower new vanity updating closet and tiling floor. Contractor was on jobs for two months after deposit was made to get materials he ripped up the bathroom. And didn’t hear from him for four days. Finally received a response saying he couldn’t financially finish the job. That was after

You can hire a new contractor to finish the job, and (generally speaking) sue Contractor #1 who abandoned you for the difference between what Contractor #1 agreed to do the job for, and what you ended up having to pay both Contractor #1 and Contractor #2 to do the job. Your claims against Contractor #1 will depend on what your contract with him says, though.
