Paid a group to get work done before our baby arrived. Hired March 2021 for work to be completed before June 1 2021 and paid $20,000 up front for materials. One month later they stopped showing up and left the house unfinished and they have filed for bankruptcy. What are my options?

You may have a claim under Indiana's Deceptive Consumer Sales Act and Home Improvement Contract Act, but there are strict notice requirements that need to be followed. Once those claims are established (specfically ones relating to fraud/deception), if they are in bankruptcy court then you will need to challenge the dischargability of your claims. Given the statutes its a pretty complicated area, but if properly navigated you can get up to 3x damages and fees paid. Happy to discuss more over the phone and after I can review any contract.
