We were not told about sewage cost

OhioConstruction Contract

At our final site plan meeting we were told that the sewage hook up was on the opposite side of the road from where our new construction would be going. We were given phone numbers to call and that they couldn't do it but would give us contacts. Here we are with the framing up on our house and making contacts for the sewage. We are being given estimates of 15k to 60k to complete the sewage boring. At no time did the construction company inform us of this cost or adequately budget for it in our contract.

If a serious expense pops up during construction, it would probably be smart to have a lawyer review your contract to determine who's on the hook for paying that expense. So, consulting a local Ohio construction attorney would be wise. If the cost was foreseeable and the contractor just missed it or failed to disclose it, then the contractor may be responsible for eating that cost. But, if it's something that was completely unpredictable, then it's possible an owner would have to shoulder the burden. Though, checking where sewage will connect should be a basic part of the planning process. In either case, it's still possible that the contract terms will direct who must pay for the price increase. And, utilizing the services of an Ohio attorney would help to clarify that as well as help with proceeding to force the contractor to take on the cost.
