We need specific info on 20 day prelim notice

CaliforniaPreliminary Notice

We have been in different phases of this project as we are a plumbing subcontractor. A pre-limb notice was not served within the first 20 days of starting project and it has taken a year. We have several projects with the same situation from the same contractor. However we have been on the project within 20 days from today. We need to know what our rights are as far as filing a preliminary 20 day notice and then a mechanics lien due to no pay

Preliminary notices can be served at anytime during the project, but will only capture (for purposes of a mechanics lien, stop payment notice, etc.) the value of labor and materials furnished in the 20 day period prior to the date of service of the preliminary notice, and all future work.
