We have material in our driveway, what do we do with it?

New York

We hired a contractor and his team. The company dissolved. We had to hire a new company but the materials used by the first company has not been removed even after contacting him several times. We would like to get rid of it before the winter.

if there are any tools or material of value, offer them to completion contractor, otherwise, dump them. save written proof that you asked him to remove them. if you have only done it by phone, send a letter, regular mail and certified RRR and tell him what you plan to do or an email with a read receipt. save it all.

Ideally you can return it to the supplier for a refund. Often you can make returns even without a receipt. Maybe the supplier will pick it up.

However, the best option will depend on what the material is and whether it can be salvaged and put to some other use.

In any even write the prior company advising unless the material is picked up in 5 days it will be deemed abandoned.

At that point sell for salvage, return it, use it or give it away.
