We are normally a subcontractor for another company, but that company hired us to pick up and deliver a piece of equipment. We do not have a contract for this transaction. We are not doing any work on the project. If we only delivered a piece of equipment, I feel that should be recorded as service work - basically a retail type transaction, where we were hired to make a delivery. The problem comes when we bill and subsequently report and pay taxes. Are we a subcontractor in this situation or vendor?
