I completed a job for a roofing company in 2017 based on a verbal agreement. It was an emergency job in which trees fell on a home. All documents were sent to an insurance company for payment. The homeowner was given multiple checks, but never paid us. the roofing company states they were never paid, however the insurance company states the purpose of the check was infact for the work we completed. I was unable to meet with the insurance adjuster the day he cut the check because i was in the hospital to deliver my child. What can I do?

It’s too late to file a lien, but you can always file suit on your contract. One thing to consider is whether it is worth chasing the homeowner after all this time. Do they have any money?
