Shouldn't "my customer" be the individual who hired me, rather than his company?

Idaho

An individual hired my company to move his home, from which he operates a trucking company, to a new location. He has not paid the second half of the agreed-upon price. Levelset is listing his company as the entity that the lien is to be filed against. We have never dealt with his company, except as a means to get in touch with the individual. Shouldn't the lien be filed against the individual himself, rather than his company?

When determining whether the property owner's name is correct on the mechanics lien form, the property owner's information is easy to find on your contract. It is always a good idea to request a copy of the construction contract at the beginning of a construction project. The construction contract makes it easy to find the legal name of the property owner in the event of a payment dispute.

Levelset has also provided additional ways to determine who the property owner is and where to look including the county assessor's office. County Assessors will typically provide property ownership information for free, and the information they have is often most accurate and up-to-date. Most of the assessor's offices have online search tools you may use without an account creation requirement or subscription fee.
