Restoration co did extra unnecessary restoration in order to increase what home insurance co pay them for restoration

Washington

Restoration co submitted estimeate + reserve to my home insurance co. The water damage was only the cabinet and area of back wall where water connection pipes are located. Only once the rep of restoration co came. No supervision after. No communication to me as to what is scope of work to be restored. The drywall was torn all the way to the right, after abatement as well as vinyl floor taken apart for abatement purpose. Not necessary as no water damage, cement floor under vinyl, all dry when leak occurred. I emailed claim agent and told her about the excess/unnecessary work restoration co is doing. She replied to let the restoration co do their work. All this resulted in my deductible going up t o$5000.00. I felt I have been ripped off. I worry how I will pay that deductible if another water leak occur later on. I live in a building 46 yrs old. Pls tell me what I can do to get home insurance co to decrease my deductible for renewal of policy due Nov 30? I am a senior.

You will have to review your insurance policy.  If the insurance company paid the claim, the policy will state what the deductible is.  I also don't know if the policy requires that the insurance company has the right to hire the contractor without your authorization. If you had thought the work was excessive, you should have searched for a different contractor
