Recourse for a lien

Connecticut

We hired a contractor to replace the roof on our company building. We paid the contractor in full, however, the contractor did not pay his supplier. The supplier has placed a lien on our property. We were served by the local marshall for a civil summons. What recourse do we have?

Since a mechanic's lien has already been placed on your property, you now need to apply to the Connecticut Superior Court for a hearing to determine whether the lien should be discharged or reduced. The court must order reasonable notice of the application to be given to the named lienor and your contractor. At this time, a date is set for the hearing. This hearing will likely be conducted virtually on Microsoft Teams.
