My ex boss sold me a truck then stole it back and never gave me the pink can I put a lean against him

CaliforniaRight to Lien

A couple of years ago my ex boss owed me about 2500 dollars in labor. He had a company truck I drove while working for him,he told me if I gave him 1500 dollars he would give me the truck he said I could work off the 1500 .he had to move and the house he was moving into needed floors pulled up and replaced walls built and several runs to the dumps and it was a good 6 weeks of work I had into it . He told me that for the labor I had done we were even on the truck deal.he said because of the move he didn't no where the title was,so I never got the title and we had a falling out and about a year ago stopped working for him about 2 weeks ago he stole the truck I got from him and all my tools,I couldn't report it stolen because I didn't have the title and he was the last one it was registered to

Regarding the truck since it's an agreement for a vehicle over $500 in value the Statute of Frauds applies. See California Commerical Code Section 2201. Meaning you have to have an agreement in writing that supports the sale. If you have an agreement in writing that supports the sale, you may be able to sue him in Small Claims Court. Regarding your tools, that is arguably theft. See California Penal Code Section 484. You can contact local law enforcement.
