I am a designer/contractor. Did a design for a customer. Now he won't pay. Was not aware of the need for 20 day preliminary. Filed intent to lien through Levelset. Now reached end of deadline to file lien, and not enough time to file paper work. The customer said he was going to pay, but has not. I was holding off on filling hoping for payment. No payment received and end of deadline. Is there anything else that I can do to get paid or to file lien?
You can sue for breach of contract. As to which court depends on the amount due. Reach out to a construction attorney for advice.
