Mechanics lien or what do I do?

IdahoMechanics Lien

Hello my name is Alisha Sevy We opened a new mechanic shop in Marsing Idaho last July. We have a car that we did work for in February we have been in contact with person but they keep saying they will come and pay the bill and still a no show. Here we are the end of March and still no payment. We believe this car has a lien on it also and the lien holders are trying to find them but can't locate them and we are unaware of who the lien holder is so we can't get a hold of them either. We don't know where they live we just have contact through Facebook. My question is what do we do? We need to get paid for this job but they haven't paid the bill and so we either need to file for a mechanics lien or try to find out who is trying to reposes this car? Please get back to me. Thank you!

Mechanics liens are generally available for those who perform construction work but go unpaid. So, despite the misleading name, that particular type of lien won't be available to secure payment automotive work. With that being said, it looks like this should be a great resource for what you're looking for - and it looks like they do use the term "mechanics lien" when referring to a lien on an automotive title: Idaho Mechanics Lien. Good luck!
