Lien rights, or is lien invalid

CaliforniaLien Waivers

Hired a Restoration Company, has general B Contractor License in California. His contract has only $1.00 with no description of work or its cost. With tbd for completion dates. They also have done damage to our home, with improperly hanging of 11 doors, they painted latex over enamel with no prep or primer. Had a cslb expert out that determined their work does not meet Construction standards. This contractor put a lien on our home after I exited his $1.00 contract. What is our option in court with his lien? Does he have a vaild lien if he doesn't have a vaild contract?

California is one of the many states that does not require a written contract to enforce a mechanics lien. In these states, contractors and suppliers are generally allowed to file a lien even if they don't have a written contract. There are a few options you can explore if a lien is filed against your property, three of the most common are: 1. Immediately dispute the lien 2. Force the claimant to file suit 3. Just wait it out To combat a lien filed against you it is helpful to contact a California Construction Attorney.
