TexasLien Releases

I have paid a contractor in full but they will not sign a lien release form for my landlord here in Texas. What can I do?

You will want to save any quotes or invoices that the contractor sent to you as well as saving records of all payments made to the contractor. That can be bank records, copies of the cashed checks, credit card records, etc. You want to keep your records just in case. If the contractor doesn't try to file a lien, there will not be a problem. If the contractor files a lien, you will want your records so you can show an attorney/court where you paid the contractor what was agreed upon so that the lien is improper. If it is very important to your landlord that the matter be cleared up, someone (you or the landlord) may file an action in a court of competent jurisdiction.
