Is this lien legal

PennsylvaniaMechanics Lien

I had a new motor Putin my truck by a performance shop. He did it and gave the truck back. He charged 7,500.00 I paid 3,200.00 of it so far. I drove the truck 2 days and the motor started taking coolant and the battery quit charging. I called him. He advised me to bring it back. We have an agreement that I pay weekly payments. I have been paying them. He refuses to fix the problem he caused to the new motor and has now issues a mechanic lien on my truck. Is that legal? Especially since the truck is not fixed?

Mechanic's lien are used for recording debts against a real property for the value of the unpaid improvements. When I say "real property,' I mean land. Because a truck is not land, it cannot be liened. Only real property is publically recorded. The word "mechanic" in "mechanic's lien," does not refer to an auto mechanic. If you have a valid signed agreement for payment of a debt, and you fail to pay, the other party might sue you for breach of contract, etc. to get paid. They would need a judgment against before you prior to collecting.
