Hello, I had agreed to paying $175 to swap out an exhaust fan in my bathroom. When the contractor arrived, he investigated and found he was unable to swap out the vent without ripping out my entire ceiling, He was at my house from 9:40Am-10:36AM so I contacted the company to pay the hourly rate and trip charge instead of the $175 since the project wasn't completed. They were very upset that I didn't want to pay the entire amount and have now said they are putting a mechanics lien on my home. Is this something they can do? I feel i was very reasonable and level headed.
