Is the 20 day preliminary notice necessary to have rights to file a lien within 120days

If I am a supplier of construction materials do I have to send the 20 day preliminary notice in order to have the right to file a lien later? If the 20 day has passed but I am still within the 120 day period do I as the supplier of materials still have the ability to file a mechanics lien?

Under Arizona mechanics lien laws, all potential lien claimants should send an Arizona Preliminary Notice within the first 20 days of furnishing labor or materials to the project. Sending this notice late is not fatal to your lien rights, but it will only cover the value of labor or materials furnished for the 20 days prior to the receipt of the notice, and everything provided thereafter. However, failing to send this notice will result in the loss of the right to file a mechanics lien. For more information, see:
