Is my 2008 property lien still vaild?

Michigan

If I filed a lien on a title in 2008 is it still valid in 2021? Still owed 700.00 and home owner wants to refinance.

Construction Liens expire by law one year after the date they are filed.

Hi there, if the lien was properly recorded and not released, then that history and encumbrance is still there impacting title. A refinance may not have the same incumbent pressures as selling the home as the owner is not changing, and I am not sure that the lender will ignore it or want it dealt with as $700 will not likely matter in terms of the property as collateral for any loan.

I agree with James that a Lien expires if not foreclosed within one year, but if a title company says hey it has to be paid off, you win! There is a procedure for vacating the Lien by filing an affidavit of non- foreclosure.
