Is it too late to file a mechanics lein?

FloridaCollections

I'm a boat repair, fiberglass fabricator. I was contracted to remove a water damaged mahogany floor and replace with teak. There were different must be done by dates, plus the boat owner kept adding non floor related things to do. The greatest majority of the flooring was completed, however there's still some 1-2 day work to finish the flooring in the galley. The owner wanted his boat back to take to Maine before the work could be completed. Once away from Florida the owner started making assertions about quality of work, missing equipment and exaggeration of labor and materials cost, threatening to sue. He refuses to pay the remaining $20,000. He's been offered he work will be completed when the boat is in Florida, and there will no further charges. The last work was in August. This page talks about a Primary Contractor, sounding like a building contractor. I'm not sure if I fit under that category? The fact it's been over 90 days since last work as the boat was away from the state, plus the owner not utilizing the offer to finish the job, is any lien attempt fatally flawed? chipnhsp1969@gmail.com

Yeah, I think you will need to consult with a maritime lawyer or another kind of lawyer. Florida's construction lien laws only apply to improvements to real property.
