If a company is "run off the job" because of shoddy work & then threaten to file a ML - what is my recourse?

South CarolinaMechanics Lien

On an addition to my home, the electrician proposed a cost of $5,390. I agreed. He was paid $2,300 at the commencement of the work. Some work was done for the rough-in inspection and he sent his crew to finish several weeks later. His crew consisted of a 15 year old boy and two other very young men with no adult supervision. The licensed electrician was not on-site. The boys did not know how to wire a ceiling fan. They damaged the sheetrock in the ceiling in 14 places installing recessed lighting and cut a large gash in the bathroom wall. The installation was crude, dirty and substandard. One of the light switches was a different color from the rest and appeared to be used as it had red paint on it. I asked the company to replace the lights with larger lights to cover the sheetrock damage and to make other repairs. He refused. He is now threatening a mechanic's lien for the balance of $2,300. I have since paid someone else to replace the lights, repair the sheetrock, repaint, hang exterior lights, etc. all work that was not completed by the original company. When he files his lien, what can I do to contest it?
