New York

I am new graduated student from Banking institute. I am confused on what I am going to be in career between accountant and credit officer. In fact, I prefer to work in credit department.

Morning Onxay, Congratulations on your graduation!!!! I am SO excited that you are wanting to be a credit officer. Banking and the Construction Industry are quite a bit different when learning what you'll want to do and I'll say from my personal experience (as I have worked in a bank before as a credit officer)

-Banking: A very professional atmosphere and depending if you work with people or companies would give you a different type of stuff you will deal with, but it is basically all the same stuff, in my opinion, day in and day out. You will report normally to Loan Officers who are very busy at all times.

There are many industries you can chose from, I've done automotive, freight, food and construction. Once I hit construction I NEVER left - it is the most ever changing, never the same thing each day and many rewards. Not only do you get to manage your companies accounts receivable, you get to approve/deny credit applications , do litigation, customer and branch visits and lunches, industry event shows and so much more.

There is a lot more I could talk to you about on this but probably would be easier to talk directly to give more information. Please email me at lori.drake@levelset.com and I would love to talk more with you. You can also look at our website on the careers page - personality goes a long way and starting in one position can get you to where you might find exactly what you are looking for.

In the meantime here is a good look at what a Credit Manager does , in the construction industry. There are plenty other industries that are great as well, but you asked a Construction Credit Professional :)
