Hired a guy to do a job, he did the job half assed. Then he used my business name and went out and got down payments from people one was for 2500 another for 2700 another for 3500 and sign a contract with these people. He just goes out and I'm well known in this area and people hire him because of my name then never shows back to do any of the jobs.what can be done.also found out he is on parole. If you hired an employee or representative to act on behalf of your company, you could be held liable for his negligent act. The answer would depend on the scope of services for which he was hired. Were the contracts signed in your company's name? Did you receive the down payments? If the answer is yes, you are liable. If this guy is just misrepresenting that he works for you and collecting down payments, that is fraud. I would check with the local police department and send him a cease and desist letter immediately.
