You only need to file the lien once. However, to enforce the lien you must file suit on the lien within the applicable statute of limitations. Glad to discuss with you if you would like.

You will need to file suit in order to protect the lien. If you do not sue to enforce, the lien cannot be extending in any meaningful way.
