I filed a lien on a bond and a mechanics lien in March

New JerseyMechanics Lien

Im a subcontractor that did work on Hunterdon County justice Center in NJ. We are 100% finished and there was no punch list and we have a warranty. The GC was shady and not doing his part so we thought it was in our best interest to lien the project. the bonding company is telling me it is taking longer to pay me because of the mechanics lien. I am not sure what to do but it is $60K and all the bills are paid and we are a PA company.

If the lien is a Municipal Mechanic's Lien (and yours could be since this appears to be a public project) then you may only have 60 days from when you completed your work, or 60 days from when your work is accepted, to file a lawsuit to enforce the lien. So your time to enforce the lien may be running out if it has not passed already. You might be able to bring a claim against the bonding company on the Payment Bond as well, and your right to file suit against the GC should be in tact, subject to any limiting provisions in your contract. But at this point, your next step is probably to file a lawsuit and preserve your rights against any payment bond if possible.
